What is Silicate?
SILICA, as quartz in nature, is the major element for making modern glasses. It also can be burned into liquid form in spite of its hardness and chemical stability. This liquid is refered to as "wasser-glas", the "water-glass". This silicate-forming agent is an importatnt ingredient for the natural mineral silicate paint.
Characteristics:
Silin Silicate-based mineral paints have the following unique characteristics:
- Non film-forming - its micro crystallized structure binds well with the mineralsubstrate - do not flake off
- Silicification - harden with CO2, providing a long-lasting finish
- High alkaline in nature (pH 12) - unsuitable for algae or micro-organisms
- Excellent UV resistance - good colour stability
- Good Weather resistance - against acid rain, heat, cold
- Corrosion resistance - against pollutants, exhaust fumes and acid rain
- Non-flammable - fire retardant due to its inorganic nature
- No Toxic gas - release when burned
- Thin layer technology - dry film thickness 100-110 microns for 2 coats
- Static-free - mineral / inorganic nature does not carry static charge
- Breathable - good vapour permeability
- Biodegradable
- Applicable on glass, stone and concrete
- Do not contain VOC & solvents - no pollutants release during and after application
